Section 2 singles final.  Hosted tonight by the Travellers Rest….Daniel Barrow(New Mill A) versus Blair McKenzie(Honley Cons).

Supporters from both teams turned up to watch….The match started at about 8-30pm. The first four frames were split evenly with some brilliant potting and snooker-escapes from both players which earned quite some applause from the spectators….at Two a-piece there was a break for supper – delicious chilli con carne with white rice(cooked to perfection) and pitta breads….quite a few folks went for second helpings.

The match continued after the supper break. Daniel seemed to move up through the gears and was playing well – he did seem to get more of the run of the table whereas Blair seemed to just miss out on the finishes. It was a good final, packed with fluent positive,attacking play – no tippy-tappy from these two – and was definitely not a one-sided affair, ending with the score at 5-3 to Daniel Barrow.

Congratulations to the winner and commiserations to the runner-up. Thank you to all the supporters for coming along and making it a good night.
