  1. Well spotted Ben.I don’t know how thats happened……on the fixtures i’ve e-mailed it shows the correct fixtures……send me your e-mail address and i’ll forward them.

  2. Martin will the Cricketers allow young Holme Valley pool league players play in the league and cup matches at the Cricketers this year if not it is not fair on the young players as after all they are our players in the league for the future and is also not fair on the teams. As you are aware the pool table is not in the main bar area and it is not as if the young players are rowdy and running around, (even the toilets are accessible from the pool room.

  3. Hi Roger,

Its not down to the league to allow this, its the pub owners descision that is final.

I would suggest that if there are any players under the age of 18 in any team they contact the venue beforehand to make sure they are allowed in.
We did when we had a player under 18 and he was made welcome at all the venues as long as he stayed in the room where the table was. Contacting the venue beforehand (and i dont mean the day before) makes all the difference. The captains have all the fixtures so there’s no excuse not to ring the venues in plenty of time.

If there not allowed then arangements would have to be made to play the game with reserve players.

Its great having young players as they are the future but landlords have there future to think of also and some people don’t want to walk into a pub at 10pm to find it containing kids. (my opinion)

  4. The toilets may indeed be accessible from the pool room(esp’at the White Horse)…..but we believe that most landlords prefer you to actually leave the pool room if you need to have a p*ss.However there is nothing in the HVPL handbook about this.I’m not sure where the Ladies toilets are.
The situation regarding “under 18 yr olds and the Cricketers Arms” has already been discussed more than once at pool meetings where representatives of both the Cricketers Arms and The White Horse were present and accepted the League’s(not just the Committee’s) comments and decisions.I am assuming that your team captain/representative does actually talk to you Roger. If you want to approach Peter Sykes of the Cricketers Arms and ask his opinion-please feel free to do so.Please don’t waste my time.
The League has never and still does not, impose any discriminatory restrictions on registration of players with regard to Weight,Sex,Age,Height,or even their IQ.I know of at least one person who thinks that perhaps we should. There are times when i am almost in agreement.

  5. Martin I was only asking a question and there is no call for sarcasm ( it is the lowest form of wit ) you are the official so the question went to you and I would hope this would not have wasted your time if so I would not have bothered to write the question in the first place

  6. Roger, you may have taken my comments as sarcasm but i intended them to be taken as direct answers to your queries.
I am not the only official. There is a committee that is empowered to make decisions. If you wish to lodge an appeal with regard to the way things are-then please feel free to write a letter to the Chairman.
I’m not sure of how blunt and frank i ought to be when entering something on this site, but i hope you get my drift when i repeat that i consider the subject to have been openly and fully dealt with at a committe meeting and the matter is closed.
